Posting Rules & Prohibited Items

Last updated: 3 October 2026

These rules keep BuySalex useful for buyers and fair for sellers. Ads that follow them get approved faster and rank better in search. Ads that break them are removed, and repeated or serious breaches lead to account suspension.

A good ad

  • One item per ad. If you are selling a set, say so and price the set.
  • Your own photos. Show the actual item, in good light, from several angles. Include any scratches or faults. Do not use stock images or photos copied from other listings.
  • A clear title. Brand, model and the main detail, for example "iPhone 13, 128 GB, blue, with box". Avoid capital letters, symbols and words like "urgent" or "best price".
  • An honest description. Age, condition, what is included, why you are selling and any known problems.
  • A real price. The price you actually expect to receive. Do not enter ₹1 or 0 to appear at the top of a price sort.
  • The right category and location. Post where the item actually is.
  • No contact details in the text. Buyers contact you through chat, or unlock your number. Phone numbers and links typed into ads are hidden automatically.

Not allowed on BuySalex

The list below is not complete. If something is illegal where you or the buyer are, it is not allowed here either.

Illegal or dangerous goods

  • Firearms, ammunition, explosives, fireworks, and parts or kits used to make them
  • Knives and weapons designed to injure, including stun guns and pepper spray where restricted
  • Drugs, narcotics, psychotropic substances, and items used to consume them
  • Prescription medicines, injectables, and medical devices that need a licence to sell
  • Tobacco, e-cigarettes, vapes and alcohol
  • Hazardous chemicals, pesticides and radioactive material

Stolen, fake or restricted goods

  • Stolen items, or items you cannot prove you own. Phones with an IMEI on our blocked list are rejected automatically.
  • Counterfeit or replica branded goods, including "first copy" items
  • Pirated software, films, music, games or e-books, and devices modified to run them
  • Government-issued items: ID cards, passports, licence plates, uniforms, official seals
  • SIM cards and bank accounts
  • Currency, coins that are legal tender (except genuine collectibles), lottery tickets, gift cards and vouchers sold for cash

Animals and nature

  • Wild animals, birds, and protected species, or any part of them (ivory, skins, horns, feathers)
  • Animals listed under wildlife protection laws; pet sales must follow local rules

People and services

  • Adult services, sexual content or escort ads
  • Jobs that ask the candidate to pay a fee, or work-from-home schemes that need a deposit
  • Loans, investment schemes, crypto trading signals, chain marketing and anything promising fixed returns
  • Human organs, blood, or body parts
  • Services that break the law, such as fake documents, exam cheating or hacking

Misleading ads

  • Ads for items you do not have
  • Duplicate ads for the same item, or reposting the same ad in many cities
  • Ads that collect personal data, push people to another website, or advertise a shop rather than a specific item
  • Keyword stuffing: lists of brands or search terms unrelated to the item

Vehicles, property and electronics

  • Vehicles: you must be the registered owner or have the owner's written permission. State the year, kilometres driven and number of owners honestly.
  • Property: only owners or authorised agents may post. Mention whether you are an agent. Do not ask for a deposit before a viewing.
  • Phones and laptops: add the IMEI or serial number if asked. It is checked against reported stolen devices and is not shown publicly.

What happens if an ad breaks the rules

  1. The ad is rejected or removed and you are told the reason.
  2. You can fix it and resubmit, or appeal if you think we got it wrong.
  3. Repeated or serious breaches, such as stolen goods, fraud or illegal items, lead to suspension or a permanent ban. Where the law requires, we report the matter to the authorities.

See something that should not be here? Use Report on the ad. Reports are anonymous to the seller.
