Cookie Policy

Like almost every website, BuySalex stores small pieces of information in your browser. Some are needed for the site to work at all. Others are optional and are used only if you agree. This page lists what we use and why.

What cookies are

A cookie is a small text file a website saves in your browser. "Local storage" works in a similar way. Both let the site remember something between pages or visits, such as that you are logged in or that you prefer dark mode.

Cookies we always use

These are strictly necessary. Without them you could not log in, post an ad or pay. They do not track you across other websites.

Name Purpose How long
Session cookie Keeps you logged in as you move between pages Until you close the browser, or 2 hours of inactivity
XSRF-TOKEN Protects forms against cross-site request forgery Same as the session
remember_web_* Keeps you logged in if you tick "Remember me" Up to 5 years, or until you log out
rm_lang Remembers the language you chose 1 year
rm_cur Remembers the currency you chose 1 year
Location preference Remembers the city or area you selected Up to 1 year
rm_cookie_ok (local storage) Remembers your answer to the cookie banner Until you clear it
rm_theme (local storage) Remembers light or dark mode Until you clear it

Optional cookies

These are set only after you accept them in the cookie banner.

Analytics. If enabled by us, Google Analytics helps us understand which pages are used and where people get stuck. It sets cookies starting with _ga. We do not send your name, email or phone number to Google Analytics.

Advertising. On some public pages we may show ads from Google AdSense. Google and its partners may use cookies to show ads based on your past visits to this and other sites. If you choose "Essential only" in our banner, only non-personalised ads are requested. Learn more at policies.google.com/technologies/ads.

Marketing pixels. If we run campaigns, a Meta (Facebook) pixel may record that you visited the site so that we can measure the campaign. It is never loaded on account, chat or payment pages.

Changing your choice

  • Clear the rm_cookie_ok entry, or all site data, in your browser settings and the banner will appear again.
  • Every browser lets you block or delete cookies. If you block the necessary ones, you will not be able to log in.
  • You can opt out of Google Analytics on any site with Google's browser add-on, and manage ad personalisation at adssettings.google.com.
